In the second half of XX century economists, who had been dealing with macro models, found the possibility of individual-data-analyses interesting. Therefore, despite the insufficient number of micro databases, microeconometrics and micro simulations have been developing rapidly. Micro simulation models are used to evaluate policies and reforms, by analyzing vast data sets. They present outcomes on micro level, as well as institutional and macro ones. Due to the multilevel assessment overall effect distribution is created. The objective of this work has been the presentation of the concept, evolution, and selected applications of micro simulations. As micro simulation models' development has been both dynamic and multidirectional, the application possibilities have extended as well. They have been found useful not only in economics, but in not strictly economical fields, such as sociology, health economics, and medicine.(original abstract)
