W artykule, oprócz krótkiej charakterystyki koncepcji inwestycji społecznie odpowiedzialnych, szczegółowo przedstawiono dwa odmienne punkty widzenia na efektywność inwestycji społecznie odpowiedzialnych oraz zaprezentowano zestawienie wybranych, dotychczasowych badań w zakresie ich efektywności. The increasing significance and popularity of the concept of socially responsible investment over the last two decades is coupled with frequent questions posed by scientists and practitioners regarding the effectiveness of such projects. The major thesis of the paper is the statement that the effectiveness of socially responsible investment understood as the relation between the rate of return and risk is not lower than in the case of applying the classical criteria for developing an investment portfolio; therefore, from the point of view of investors, this strategy is equally attractive as other similar projects. Another argument in support of this statement is the fact that the decreasing confidence in financial markets caused by the financial crisis has made investors aware of the need for minimising investment risk, leading to the development of the concept of socially responsible investing in Poland and worldwide. Therefore, the author believes that the investment of domestic and global assets based on the concept of socially responsible investing is likely to increase in the years to come.
