W artykule omówiono charakterystyczne cechy polityki migracyjnej krajów wysoko rozwiniętych oraz przedstawiono problem nielegalnych migracji i przemytu ludności. Szczegółowo opisano również wady i zalety migracji z punktu widzenia kraju wysyłającego, jak i przyjmującego.

A characteristic feature of the present international economic order is the difference in levels of liberalization in trade, capital and the movement of people. While the international movement of capital is free, the movement of workers is highly restricted. In such a situation highly developed countries make full use of their major advantage - abundance of capital - in international competition while the poor countries which have plenty of cheap labour cannot use their asset in the same way. Such a selective way of realizing the liberal idea of modern globalization is one of the important reasons of the widening income and social inequality in the world economy. (original abstract)
