The crisis which has affected the world at the end of the first decade of twenty-first century, has many implications for the economy, policy and society. Is is quite commonoly and unanimously recognised that the liberalization of capital transfer, which occurred in the past 30-35 years, has brought about the first crisis of our century. That liberalization has led to rapid increase in trade on a global scale, gradual reduction of the economic authority, weakening of democratic processes and diminish business processes control as well as the disengagement of the financial sphere from the real economy - namely has led to the globalization of the economy. The essence of presented considerations is an attempt to answer the question whether the crisis can be a propitious factor in efforts to transform the globalization, strengthen the role of state and democracy, and build transnational regulations (global governance), at the cost of the strength and position of transnational corporations (TNC). However, today we experience a distant approach and reluctance of the international community to solve problems collectively. In this situation it is impossible to overcome contemporary problems, including an attempt to transform the globalization and diminish the role of TNC. Deepening of the globalization processes in agribusiness area is going to lead to - on the one hand - further concentration of the market strength and potential of decreasing number of TNC - on the other hand - the pauperization of millions of small businesses and farms. Consequently, non-agricultural use of arabie lands is going to expand; particularly profitable energy crops are going to be cultivated. Such situation will result in further increase of food production costs and limited economic access to food for the increasing number of inhabitants. (original abstract)
