Abstrakty
(...) Jako miarę rentowności przedsiębiorstw, będące substytutem współczynnika Lernera, wykorzystano rentowność sprzedaży netto. (fragment tekstu)
After short presentation of theoretical views on the linkages between concentration level, capital intensity and profitability of firms, this paper assess these relationships using data for almost 2500 the biggest Polish firms from eleven economic sectors. In addition to evidence for a comparatively large positive impact of sectoral concentration on firm's profitability, strong relationship between this former variable and capital intensity was found. This implies that sectors with a higher concentration level are most likely to achieve better economic results and also possess higher barriers of market entry. However, there is no evidence of meaningful relation between high level of sectoral concentration and high growth of firm's sales, as suggested by an economic theory. (original abstract)
