Institutional Dimension of Urban Decline and Transformation in Tilburg (The Netherlands) and Ostrava (Czech Republic)

The main aim of this article is to examine the institutional perspective of urban and regional decline and transformation in Middle Brabant and Moravian-Silesian regions. The attention will be focused on Tilburg and Ostrava, which are the principal towns of these regions. It is argued that endogenous approach represents certainly useful instrument of regional development but at the same time one should not underestimate the importance of macrostructures - mainly the structure and the way of performance of public administration.
