Taking notes is a very importing part of the learning process, supporting memorizing and serving as the basis for reviews. In order that notes would carry out their function properly, it might be necessary to look for the most effective methods of notes takings. One of them is mind mapping, which might be an useful tool not only for students, but also for teachers. The paper presents the concept of mind maps, describes their strong and weak points as well as it points the areas in which mind maps might be used by both, teachers and students. (original abstract)
