Abstrakty

Artykuł prezentuje problematykę zależności pomiędzy religią a polityką. Autor stawia tezę, że relacje między nimi komplikują się coraz bardziej, począwszy od rewolucji francuskiej, która wprowadza standardy myślenia obce politycznie i moralnie cywilizacji katolickiej. Proces pogłębiania się rozziewu między katolicyzmem a współczesną polityką demokratyczną doprowadza do jednostronnej zależności religii od polityki, pomimo deklarowanej przez demokrację neutralności w sprawach wiary. Demokracja staje się rodzajem surogatu prawdziwej religii, mającym zapełnić pustkę po zniszczeniu przez nią transcendentnych odniesień polityki. Aby zilustrować ten proces, przywołane zostają dwie jego fazy: obrona przymierza ołtarza i tronu przez myślicieli ultramontańskich w XIX wieku oraz problemy Kościoła posoborowego z utrzymaniem dyscypliny doktrynalnej. Autor przypomina w tym kontekście postaci dwóch polskich krytyków demokratyzacji: piszącego tuż po rewolucji francuskiej ultramontanina - Ignacego Łada-Łobarzewskiego, oraz działającego w Chile krytyka teologii wyzwolenia - księdza Michała Poradowskiego. The article analyses the issue of the interdependence between religion and politics. The author submits a proposition that the relationship between them have become more and more difficult since the time of the French Revolution, which introduced standards of thinking alien to Catholic civilization, politically as well as morally. The increasing discrepancy between Catholicism and the present democratic order has led to the one-sided dependence of religion on politics, despite the fact that democratic political systems declare themselves to be neutral on the point of religious conscience. Nowadays democracy seems to take the form of a surrogate for true religion, supposedly being able to fill an emptiness caused by the destruction of the transcendent references of politics. In order to illustrate this process, two of its phases have been analyzed: the defense of an alliance between the altar and the throne taken in hand by the ultramontane thinkers of the nineteenth century, and the problems the Catholic Church has with the maintenance of doctrinal discipline after the Vaticanum II. In this context, the author animates the memory of two Polish critics of the democratization process: the ultramontane writer Ignacy Łada-Łobarzewski, who was writing just after the French revolution, and the priest Michał Poradow ski, active in Chile as a critic of liberation theology.
