Abstrakty
Na tle gwałtownego starzenia się społeczeństw artykuł niniejszy bada niektóre z implikacji tego trendu dla branż usługowych. Problem starzenia się populacji został ujęty w perspektywie konsumenta usług. Konsumpcję usług zbadano w kontekście interakcji pomiędzy pracownikami pierwszego kontaktu i klientami. Dostarczono dowodów na to, że starsi konsumenci często postrzegają kontakty usługowe inaczej niż młodsi konsumenci. Część uwag poświęcono problemowi postrzegania technologii samoobsługowych przez starszych konsumentów usług. Artykuł poddał kilka sposobów, dzięki którym organizacje usługowe mogą osiągnąć przewagę komercyjną poprzez działanie uwzględniające zrozumienie potrzeb starszego konsumenta usług. (fragment tekstu)

One of the most significant and challenging trends facing many countries is the ageing of their population structure. The ageing population has a wide range of implications for society. Accordingly, ageing has been studied from a vast number of perspectives. This article examines ageing society from a service management perspective. The reasons why marketers have paid increasing attention to the so-called 'mature' consumer are explored. A range of service management topics are discussed in terms of older consumers. These include the service setting, ergonomics and the use of self-service technology. The complexity of the service encounter in an older service consumer context is examined. A range of research contributions concerning older consumer service encounters are presented. Attention is focused on employee-to-customer (E2C) encounters, but customer-to-customer (C2C) encounters are also considered. Approaches for managing service encounters involving older consumers are put forward. Suggestions for future research are made. (original abstract)
