Przedstawiono ceny ropy i ich spadek oraz jego konsekwencje dla głównych producentów ropy naftowej należących oraz nie należących do OPEC. Omówiono kryzys bliskowschodni w latach 1990-1991 a stanowisko OPEC.

The paper outlines the evolution of OPEC organization, its achievements and drawbacks. Special attention is drawn to the effectiveness of OPEC operations in conditions when the share of external oil suppliers in world market has been rising, In conclusion, the author sta-tes that the present decision-making system in this organization, the entanglement of particular member states in local conflicts, and, finally, law effectiveness of price policy - all these factors do not provide good grounds for efficient OPEC's functioning in the future.(original abstract)
