Proces wykształcania się nowego pieniądza europejskiego jest jednym z ciekawszych zjawisk we współczesnej gospodarce światowej. Utworzenie euro to z jednej strony efekt świadomej, aktywnej polityki władz Wspólnoty, a z drugiej ewolucji rynków finansowych. Erozja funkcji dolara stworzyła przestrzeń dla nowego pieniądza regionalnego. Ewolucja ta to stopniowe substytuowanie monetarnych funkcji dolara przez ECU, potem euro. (fragment tekstu)

The main aim of the paper is to investigate the process of creation of international currency - euro in European Monetary Union. In the paper the Author analyses four stages of the building of monetary union as well as the role of dollar and European Currency Unit (or other European currencies) as international currency.
