Abstrakty

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki próby zmierzenia efektów prowadzenia polityki liberalnej jako mającej wpływ na kształtowanie się podstawowych zależności makroekonomicznych - pomiędzy pozycją państwa w gospodarce a tempem wzrostu gospodarczego, oraz pomiędzy inflacją a bezrobociem. Jako przykłady liberalnej polityki gospodarczej wybrano Stany Zjednoczone (z okresu administracji Ronalda Reagana) oraz Wielką Brytanię (z czasu rządów Margaret Thatcher). Narzędziem badania pierwszej z omawianych zależności jest krzywa Armeya. Zależność drugą bada się za pomocą zmiennej w czasie stopy bezrobocia niepowodującej przyspieszenia inflacji (NAIRU). Wyniki analiz wyspecyfikowanych krzywych Armeya i NAIRU okazały się zgodne z założeniami - leżących u ich podstaw - teorii ekonomicznych i potwierdziły zarazem przydatność wykorzystania obu tych krzywych jako narzędzi analizy efektów polityki gospodarczej. The article summarizes the results of efforts aimed at quantifying the impact of introducing liberal economic policies on the dynamics of two macroeconomic tradeoffs: between the government's position and the rate of GDP growth, and between inflation and unemployment. The administrations of Ronald Reagan in the United States of America, and the cabinets of Margaret Thatcher in the United Kingdom served as case studies for this analysis. The Armey curve was used as the tool of analysis for the former trade-off. The latter one was examined by means of specifying time-variant NAIRU. The results arising from the analysis of econometrically specified curves not only proved to be in alignment with the underlying economic theories, but also pointed at the practical aspects of applying these two trade-off concepts to the analysis of the implications of economic policies.
