Dlaczego nie wolno dopuścić do rozpadu strefy euro - wnioski z poprzednich rozpadów stref walutowych

Abstrakty
Rozpad strefy walutowej jest dużo poważniejszy niż dewaluacja. Kiedy strefa walutowa z ogromnymi nieuregulowanymi zobowiązaniami rozpada się, międzynarodowy mechanizm płatności w jej obrębie zostaje zerwany, utrudniając wszelkie kontakty gospodarcze. Tworzenie nowego mechanizmu płatności może zająć wiele lat, jak to się stało w przypadku byłego Związku Radzieckiego. A tymczasem rozpad może doprowadzić do wielu katastrof. Prawie połowa przypadków hiperinflacji na świecie zaistniała na skutek nieuporządkowanego rozpadu trzech europejskich stref walutowych: monarchii austro-węgierskiej, Jugosławii i Związku Radzieckiego. Łatwiej jest stworzyć strefę walutową niż ją rozwiązać. (fragment tekstu)
