Abstrakty

W rezultacie debata na temat wyników transformacji odbiegła od dyskusji na temat czynników wzrostu. Dostrzegając tę lukę pomiędzy szerszą literature dotyczącą wzrostu a bardziej skupioną tematycznie literaturą dotyczącą transformacji, celem artykułu jest zbadanie czynników wzrostu PKB w krajach postkomunistycznych i przedstawienie ich na tle bardziej ogólnych zależności dostrzeżonych w innych badanych w literaturze regionach. Hipoteza badawcza stwierdza zaistnienie podobnych do innych krajów czynników wzrostu. W dalszej części artykułu przedstawiono ogólny obraz literatury poświęconej odmiennym wynikom gospodarczym krajów transformacji, następnie zostanie przeprowadzone badanie empiryczne. Ostatnia część zawiera wnioski, choć szczegółowe porównanie między krajami pozostaje poza zakresem artykułu. (fragment tekstu)

This article aims to examine empirically the factors of GDP growth in post-communist countries and present them against a background of more general relationships established by the growth literature, observed in other regions of the world. The main hypothesis of the research is that similar growth factors affect GDP growth in countries in the region as in other parts of the world. The empirical investigation shows that in these countries we can see a clear convergence pattern. This contradicts the notion of path-dependence and commonly expressed view that some countries in the region with unfavorable initial conditions will not catch up with the relatively richer ones.
