Następnie sformułowano zawężoną treść hipotezy, możliwą do zbadania statystycznego, w brzmieniu: 5-letnie stopy zwrotu horizon IRR z inwestycji funduszy Private Equity są silnie skorelowane z 5-letnimi średnimi kroczącymi uśrednionych rocznych stóp zwrotu z indeksów giełdowych.
The purpose of this article is to verify the hypothesis stating that stock market situation has influence on Private Equity investment returns. There are arguments justifying such a conviction as well as presumptions questioning it. Subsequently a narrow hypothesis that can be verified statistically has been formulated. It states that 5-year Private Equity horizon IRRs are strongly correlated with 5-year rolling averages of 1-year averaged rates of returns from stock exchange indices. Empirical evidence showed that adequate correlation rates for USA, United Kingdom, Germany and France confirmed (with one exception) the existence of a generally strong correlation. The conclusion is that there is no basis for rejecting the hypothesis that stock exchange situation influences the returns from Private Equity investments.(original abstract)
