Abstrakty

We współczesnej literaturze polskiej kategoria "kapitał społeczny" pojawia się najczęściej bez próby jej empirycznej operacjonalizacji. Można dostrzec również inne podejście. W niektórych sondażach i diagnozach używa się wskaźników kapitału społecznego, chociaż termin ten expressis verbis w nich nie występuje. Zagadnienia operacjonalizacji kapitału społecznego są omawiane przede wszystkim w literaturze zagranicznej. Poza klasycznymi już badaniami nad kapitałem społecznym J. Colemana czy R. Putnama istnieje wiele nowych analiz. Impulsem dla ich powstania jest zainteresowanie Banku Światowego ta problematyką, ale i inicjatywy państwowych (np. brytyjskich czy australijskich) instytucji statystyki publicznej. The article deals with the problem how to define 'social capital' in operational terms and how measure it in an empirical research. In the first section the main differences in the empirical idies on social capital are described. They stem from: the way the term is defined (whether it is iderstood as individuals' property or a common ability to cooperate), the level of analysis, the irpose of research and the fact whether social capital is treated as a dependant or an independent liable. The second part of the paper presents structural, normative and behavioral components of cial capital. In the third paragraph varied empirical studies on social capital are presented, with ecial attention to indicators and research qualitative and quantitive methods. (original abstract)
