Artykuł podejmuje ciekawą problematykę, związaną z funkcjonowaniem ubezpieczeń satelitarnych. Określono w nich zakres tych ubezpieczeń oraz poddano analizie podstawowe grupy ubezpieczeń satelitarnych, występujących na światowym rynku ubezpieczeniowym. (fragment tekstu)

Until the mid-1960s the insurance market was not interested in the space industry, since it had been focused on military aims of the United States and the Soviet Union. Insurance for space activities has developed after many years of work of brokers, insurers and worldwide insurance community. The goal of that work was to provide flexible forms of insurance for a volatile class of exposure, which was not yet quantified by loss data. In this paper the scope of satellite insurance was defined. Three categories of satellite insurance were distinguished: property, third party liability and warranty insurance. Only property insurance (pre-launch, launch, in-orbit insurance) was taken into consideration in detail. That analysis was made on the basis of sample satellite insurance policy wordings received thanks to insurers and brokers. Special attention was paid to these elements that there are not in any other kind of insurance. (original abstract)
