Rozwój edukacji mniejszości niemieckiej w polskim systemie oświaty kształtowany jest przez różne uwarunkowania o charakterze demograficznym, społecznym, ekonomicznym. Przedmiotem zainteresowania niniejszego opracowania są uwarunkowania demograficzne, w szczególności aktualna struktura demograficzna populacji mniejszości niemieckiej w Polsce, która w mniejszym lub większym stopniu kreuje obecny obraz szkolnictwa mniejszości niemieckiej w naszym kraju.(fragment tekstu)

The development of German minority education within the framework of the Polish system of education is shaped by different demographic, social and economic factors. The subject of the study is demographic factors, especially current demographic structure of the German minority population in Poland who, to a certain extent, shape the present view of German minority education in our country. The current demographic structure of the German minority living in Poland (despite the period of population decline) does not affect the development of minority education in our country in a destabilising fashion, which is reflected in new minority classes being established every year (particularly in primary and lower-secondary schools). The demographic structure of the German minority population in Poland is undoubtedly one of the socio-demographic factors shaping the development of the education of that national minority. The development in question - in demographic context - depends on the number of children and adolescents belonging to the German minority living in Poland as well as the national identity whose part their parents (and themselves) declare to be. It is after all the parents who write an application to the principal concerning the minority language being taught to their children. It is also necessary to take into consideration the language used at home - German language - which is the basis for the development of the national identity of the German national minority in Poland.
