This paper seeks to provide a theoretical and methodological introduction to the research process analyzing the Europeanization of Polish political parties. Researchers involved in the study of political parties in EU member states have demonstrated that the intraparty changes directly caused by EU integration are small and irregular. However, the indirect impact of European integration on parties and party systems is undeniable - especially in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Limiting the prerogatives of the government, arising from the progress of integration, modifies the traditional functions of political parties in member states. They are the new "zone penetration" available for achieving the party's objectives at the transnational level, resulting in the use of strategies to influence the international arena through the creation of new internal organizational models. The question therefore is not whether the process of the Europeanization of political parties is taking place, but rather how it should be analyzed. (original abstract)
