Omówiono zasady rekrutacji i zatrudniania obywateli polskich w instytucjach wspólnotowych i agencjach Unii Europejskiej w okresie przedakcesyjnym jak i po uzyskaniu członkostwa. Przedstawiono także aktualne dane dotyczące opisywanego zagadnienia.

Starting with Poland's EU membership, Polish citizens were allowed to undertake work in community institutions and EU agencies. At the same time, Poland as the other new member states, has been awarded a quota of union posts, which are filled outside the competition system used for hiring officials of different rungs. Those are filled through nominations or elections with the requirement of observing the rules defined for each post. The paper presents the principles adopted for hiring Polish citizens in the pre-accession period, as well as after Poland's EU accession, indicating which posts are open to them. The author supplies the numbers of Poles employed in European institutions, at the end of April 2008, and compares this to the numbers for 2005 (a year after Poland's accession). There was an 87 percent growth in the number of the employed as compared to the 2005. The European Commission is the biggest employer, currently hiring 65 percent of all employed. The number of higher posts taken by Poles has also gone up. After four years of membership in EU institutions and agencies, 1791 Poles work there. (original abstract)
