Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie skutków wstąpienia Polski do Unii Europejskiej dla sektora elektroenergetycznego i konsekwencji prawnych, organizacyjnych, ekonomicznych, a także wpływu integracji na ceny energii elektrycznej oraz na ogólne zasady funkcjonowania rynku energii elektrycznej. The Electricity Industry in Poland, as in any other country holds a position of great importance. It is very difficult to envisage a situation where Poland could be short of electricity for an extensive period of time. That is why, as in other EU countries, the Electricity Sector in Poland, requires special supervision by the State. Consequently, it is important that these changes are made in Poland, as they are required to adopt the processes towards achieving the established EU principles /obligations resulting from ratified international agreements. The most important of the EU regulations are directives: no 1996/92/EC, no 2003/54/EC, no 2001/77/EC, no 2001/80/EC and no 2001/81/EC. The main aim of the regulations are to introduce competition which should improve efficiency, increase growth & promote innovation and modernization within the Electricity Industry. Additionally, this will hopefully increase the country's ability to produce electricity more efficiently along with finding alternative renewable sources of energy, which would be of greater benefit to the natural environment.
