Abstrakty

W artykule omówiono rolę pomocy rozwojowej w tworzeniu pozytywnego wizerunku Szwecji. Skupiono się na analizie pojęcia i roli dyplomacji publicznej - narzędzia realizacji polityki zagranicznej. Pomoc rozwojowa przekazywana przez kraje rozwinięte, składająca się z przepływów finansowych, dóbr i usług, know-how i wiedzy to jeden z elementów dyplomacji publicznej. Szwecja jako jeden z największych dawców pomocy jest znana ze swojej hojności. Autor utrzymuje, że tego typu polityka jest wynikiem wykorzystywania szwedzkiego modelu społecznego na świecie i próbą projektowania wartości wyznawanych w szwedzkim społeczeństwie na inne części świata. W artykule zaprezentowano jak szwedzkie zaangażowanie poprawia rozpoznawalność Szwecji wśród międzynarodowej społeczności. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The article discusses the role of development assistance in creating a positive image of Sweden. First, the notion and role of International Public Relations is analysed, with a special focus on public diplomacy as one of the tools of pursuing the main goals in foreign policy. One of the instruments of public diplomacy is development assistance which has various motivations in the activity of developed countries. Sweden as one of the biggest donors in the world is well-known for its generosity. The author also claims that this policy is a result of using the Swedish model of society in the world and an attempt to project values respected in Sweden to other countries. The article also demonstrates some examples how Swedish involvement in development assistance improves recognisability of Sweden in international community. (original abstract)
