The primary objective of this paper is to implement the experience and theoretical knowledge accumulated during the past quartercentury by the resource based view (RBV) and relating to the company in a competitive market. The main impetus was a lively discussion in theory and methodology of research on a company run by leading representatives of the resource-based view and their critics, which is a debate in Poland present at insufficient size. In the theoretical part of the study of English literature, there are presented the most important views of the resource-based view on these selected issues that seem to be most useful for the company, taking into account the absorption capacity of firms and eco-nomic considerations of practice. Therefore, there is focus on selected factors of influence, which is an emanation of the value of the company and its competitiveness (the theory of competitiveness). Selection of the health tourism sector as a recipient recommendation is the result of deliberate choice - they are relatively heterogeneous company, active in the competitive European market and are in a time of major changes in ownership, in which the value of the company and its ability to raise is important, as exemplified by data on four spa companies of Western Pomerania(original abstract)
