Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński was a brillant publicist, literary critic and translator from French literature, who popularized model of the secular culture representing the ideas of liberal bourgeoisie. Boy's ambition was tu enrich the Polish culture with the rationalist way of thinking. The criticism of the romantic tradition and revision in the Polish culture traditions were instruments in the struggle for its new shape. Reducing Sobieski and Predro to human dimensions fought Boy sarmatism and nationalism. Doing the same to Mickiewicz he was proving inconslstense of fascist and clerical ideologists arguments. The fight for rationalization of laws and manners was directed against anachronic feudal culture stereotypes burdening the nations life still more because Poland didn't undergo the bourgeois-democratic revolution.
