This paper will attempt to calculate the effects that the US and EU actions might have for the steel market in Countries Entering the European Union (CEEUs). The analysis will be done using a computable partial equilibrium model which allows for an analysis of world bilateral trade flows. The paper is structured as follows: Section II explains the theoretical aspect of the problem, i.e., the effect of a large country raising the tariff; Section III describes the role of the steel sector in post-communist countries and the place of CEEUs in the world market; Section IV presents the model and the data that has been used, while Section V presents the results; Section VI offers some conclusions and suggests areas of further research.
