Abstrakty

Niniejsze opracowanie stawia sobie za cel prześledzenie stopnia spełnienia kryteriów konwergencji przez nowe państwa członkowskie z Europy Wschodniej i Centralnej. Jednocześnie mając na uwadze ewentualną perspektywę wejścia ich do UGW i różnorodność scenariuszy przystąpienia do strefy euro przedstawiono ewolucję spełnienia kryteriów konwergencji w latach poprzedzających akcesję do Unii Europejskiej. Zamiarem tej prezentacji było wskazanie na różnorodność punktów startu poszczególnych państw w rozszerzonej UE. (fragment tekstu)

The paper is concentrated on comparing the level of satisfying the convergence criteria by Central and Eastern European countries before joining the European Union. The author analyzes the changes of the inflation, deficit and public debt ratios as well as long-term interest rates in those countries in 1996-2003. Simultaneously, she indicates the level of fulfilling the convergence criteria in the year of accession (2004), showing the consequences of the accession and different results of realizing the criteria. The existing barriers hampering realization of nominal criteria, especially as far as the budget situation of new EU members is concerned are also pointed out. The author concludes about the necessity of realizing the real convergence and deepening the integration of financial markets. (original abstract)
