The supply chain concept describes the chain of organisations and processes through which products will pass from their origin to their point of consumption7. This definition can be extended to describe the supply chain as a "[...] network of organisations that are involved, though upstream anil downstream linkages, in the different processes and activities that produce value in the form of products and services in the hands of the ultimate consume". Complex research concerning the cooperation of companies in supply chains requires a more precise description of the structure of supply chain. For that purpose, the type of ultimate supply chain serves as the best description of supply chain structure. An ultimate supply chain includes "[...] all the companies involved in all the upstream and downstream flows of products, services, finances, and information from the initial supplier to the ultimate customer".
