Abstrakty

W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wnioski z oceny ekonomicznych skutków podwyższenia standardów dobrostanu zwierząt w sektorze produkcji trzody chlewnej w państwach Unii Europejskiej (UE). Konsekwencje wprowadzenia wyższego poziomu standardów dobrostanu zwierząt zostały oszacowane na poziomie gospodarstw rolnych i całego sektora (kraju). Do oceny wpływu na poziomie gospodarstw zastosowano analizę kosztów i korzyści. Stwierdzono, że wprowadzenie podwyższonych standardów dobrostanu zwierząt w chowie trzody chlewnej spowodowałoby znaczny wzrost kosztów produkcji żywca wieprzowego. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The paper presents economic results of calculations concerning improvements of animal welfare standards in pig production. The consequences of the introduction of a higher level of animal welfare standards have been discussed at farm and sector levels. To assess the impact on farms, the cost-benefit analysis was applied. It was found that the introduction of higher animal welfare standards would increase costs both at farm and sector levels. However, there are some norms whose introduction generates more benefits than costs, such as for example appropriate lightening, avoiding competition for food or avoidance of tail kipping.
