This article is an attempt to sum up the trends in the sourcing of IT services during the last decade and to forecast how the industry will develop in the coming years. A substantial part of the article concerns the trend of offshoring IT services and the experiences of those companies that decided to move part or whole of their IT operations offshore. The author analyses the outcomes of this phenomenon and shows possible new trends in this field. The role of Poland on the global offshoring market is also mentioned in the article. A short description of cloud computing as an important new IT outsourcing technology is also provided. (original abstract)
