Abstrakty

W dobie gospodarki opartej na wiedzy szkolnictwo wyższe w dużym stopniu wpływa na rozwój społeczno-gospodarczy poprzez formację kapitału ludzkiego oraz tworzenie, rozpowszechnianie i przechowywanie wiedzy. Poziom rozwoju szkolnictwa wyższego jest zdeterminowany przez uwarunkowania finansowe, stąd rośnie zainteresowanie badaniem różnic między systemami finansowania szkół wyższych stosowanymi w różnych krajach. System szkolnictwa wyższego w Stanach Zjednoczonych jest jednym z najbardziej rynkowo zorientowanych systemów na świecie. Wiele krajów, przeprowadzając reformy finansowania edukacji na poziomie wyższym, odwołuje się do rozwiązań amerykańskich. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie cech charakterystycznych systemu szkolnictwa wyższego w Stanach Zjednoczonych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem struktury i mechanizmów finansowania. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The American higher education system has been recognised as the best in the world, a fact borne out by international academic university rankings. The US has one of the most market-oriented higher education systems in the world and many countries look at the country's approach when undertaking to reform the funding of their own systems. The objective of the article is to present the characteristics of the US higher education system, emphasising its structure of financing and funding mechanisms.(original abstract)
