Abstrakty

Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia badania, których celem jest ustalenie, czy doświadczenia zdobyte dzięki działalności wolontarystycznej przynoszą zwrot w postaci większego wynagrodzenia. Aktywność społeczna wiąże się z nauką umiejętności oraz uczestnictwem w grupach społecznych, może więc mieć pozytywny wpływ na sytuację wolontariuszy na rynku pracy. W przeciwieństwie do istniejących badań w tej dziedzinie, zakładamy, że premia wynagrodzenia będzie obecna tylko wśród wolontariuszy o niskich zasobach kapitału ludzkiego (niskim wykształceniu, niewielkim doświadczeniu zawodowym). W pozostałych grupach zwrot z działalności wolontarystycznej będzie marginalizowany przez zwrot z edukacji czy pracy zawodowej. W celu weryfikacji hipotez skonstruowano ekonometryczny model równań symultanicznych i wykorzystano dane z Niemieckich Socjoekonomicznych Badań Panelowych (German Socio - Economic Panel) z 2005 roku. Wśród wolontariuszy o niskich zasobach kapitału ludzkiego zaobserwowano premię wynagrodzenia. Jednak w pozostałych grupach działalność wolontarystyczna prowadziła do straty na wynagrodzeniu. Focusing on the investment aspect of volunteering, we examine whether voluntary work experiences have a positive impact on the wage rate. The intuition is that through volunteering one can gain experience, knowledge and skills as well as enter the information networks of volunteers improving his/her situation on the labor market. Contrary to the existing research we introduce the assumption that the wage premium will be observed only among volunteers with modest endowment with human capital (with low educational level and little professional experience). We expect that for other groups the effect of volunteering will be marginalized by the returns to education or professional work. Employing the simultaneous equations econometric model and using data from German Socio - Economic Panel we are able to observe the wage premium among volunteers with little stock of human capital whilst within the other groups we observe the wage penalty.
