The purpose of the research was to assess the knowledge of young, professionally active consumers on dietary supplements available on the market and the risks arising from their use. Empirical study has been completed in 2012 in a group of 100 randomly selected men and women aged between 19 and 30. All interviewees had university or higher education and used supplements. For statistical analysis of the research results the test compliance χ2 was applied, by comparing the obtained response distributions with uniform distribution. On the basis of the carried out research, it was found that young, professionally active people apply dietary supplements primarily to enhance immunity, improve concentration and due to care for appearance and nutrition. The existence of statistically significant differences between positive and negative answers to questions, seems to indicate a considerable knowledge of surveyed people on dietary supplements available on the market and the risks arising from their use. Do analizy statystycznej wyników badań zastosowano test zgodności χ2, porównując uzyskane rozkłady odpowiedzi z rozkładem jednostajnym.
