Abstrakty
The author presents Lipiński's concept of formation of needs which puts stress on the importance of awakening the needs and shaping their structure for the benefit of economic. development. The concept can be easily charged of attempting to impose an articicial pattern of needs on the society. The author defends the concept of Professor Lipiński pointing to (1) the pattern of needs being always acquired, so that a natural, self-created pattern of needs does not exist at all; (2) the said concept does not mean any rough interference with the consumers' choice and it only tends to influence their preferences. The pattern of needs that exists in the given society does not constitute realisation of any educational ideal: it is acquired as a result of action of the various producers and mass media. The concept of needs formation is a broad concept which is intended to favour the development of personality of man. The pattern of needs is always a product of culture. The concept discussed is a normative one and it would seem as Utopian, were it r assumed by its author that it may be realised only in the longer run, as it is required any change in accepted system of values.
