Trade, one of the oldest economic relations between nations, played a core role in the evolution of international relations. The geographical position of the states had a strong influence on the economic relations and especially on the exports and imports of products, services, technologies, etc. The national states' formation and consolidation on this old continent had special characteristics that influenced the relations between them. Romania, through its geographical position and economic potential, was a permanent presence in the economic relations with the European states. The Danube opened Romania's trade ways toward center Europe, and the Black Sea toward southern, western and northern Europe. The commercial north-south and east- west roads crossed in Romania, especially for the countries without seaboard. (fragment tekstu)
