Bezpieczeństwo poszczególnych państw, a także bezpieczeństwo świata są w coraz mniejszym stopniu uzależnione od siły militarnej, a bardziej od stanu gospodarki, a konkretnie - od kondycji systemu finansowego, który niezmiernie rozrósł się w ciągu ostatnich kilkudziesięciu lat. System finansowy rozwinął się ponad miarę i - jak to dzisiaj ekonomiści lubią mówić - "ogon macha psem", a rynki finansowe mogą destabilizować gospodarkę realną. (fragment tekstu)
Security of individual countries and security of the world is becoming less dependent on military force and more on the state of the economy, and particularly - on the condition of the financial system which has grown immensely over the past years. The financial system has evolved beyond all bounds and - as economists like to say today - "tail is wagging the dog, " and financial markets can destabilize the real economy. One of the lessons from the current crisis is that the level of debt - both public and private - has become a factor that can cause a loss of (economic) sovereignty of the state or pose a threat to national security.
