Today, brands play a key role in building the competitive position of companies. A brand is a consumers' ―sign and shortcut‖ in making decisions. Actually, consumers presents duality of behavior, i.e., they simultaneously prefer local brands and global ones. Local brands have the strength that comes from the perception that they are unique, original, proudly representing local markets. Global brand is a brand widely accepted, functioning in many markets, responding to consumers-globalists' universal needs. Having in mind dual consumers' preferences, it is necessary to refer to the dominant identity of consumers (local/global), emphasize their desirable characteristics, reflect the brand systems of norms and values of the different groups of customers, or to present the character, personality and attitudes of consumers to whom the brand is dedicated, in the branding process.(original abstract)
