Organisation's information system management staffface increasing pressures from new technologies and competition for trained resources when planning, developing, and maintaining IS projects. In response, managers have sought to use both internal and external resources to meet business needs effectively. The article is not intended to encourage or discourage outsourcing. Its purpose is to stress that outsourcing or insourcing decisions should be based on a solid analysis of alternatives. (original abstract)
