The Classical Economy in an Alternative Perspective
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
In the first part of the article, the sources of the classical economy are investigated. It is shown how much the classical economists were drawing from the ideas of earlier thinkers. A critical analysis of development of economic thought in the 18th and 19th centuries suggests that the ideas of the classics diverged in many points from highly rational and convincing ideas of predecessors of Adam Smith. In the second part, the work of Adam Smith is examined from a particular point of view, that is the Austrian School that enjoys its revival. Shortcomings and flaws of the classical school are pointed out. It is stressed, however, that notwithstanding the many errors, the classical economy mostly suggested right solutions which helped the nations to develop and to grow rich. (original abstract)
