The article presents facts and Vevents from the long and highly creative life of Friedrich August von Hayek, an economist and social thinker. Emphasis is laid on those events which had a particular importance for the development of his socio-economic doctrine, his analytical attitude and perspective, and the approach to the investigated problems. The analysis and interpretation of those facts lead to the conclusion that the academic activity of F.A. von Hayek assumed the shape of a continuous, more than fifty years lasting discours with the symptoms of the socialist ideology appearing on both the economic and philosophical grounds. His scientific achievements are also an outcome of a long standing search for the governing a free society. (original abstract)
