The development of the monetary theory of Friedrich A. von Hayek is presented in the article. The questions of money and its role in the economic process have been an important component part of his research. While examining his scientific achievement in the area of monetary issues one may observe a characteristic feature which is present both in his early publications from the 1930s, and his later concepts of the 1970s. This is a continuous concern for assuring a stable value of money or maintaining the stability of its purchasing power. His concepts and theories of money, taken all together, bear witness of a nearly sixty years enduring search of a recipe for good money. (original abstract)
