The global financial crisis influenced the content of the new European Union`s strategy Europe 2020. The strategy emphasizes sustainable development and green economy as an engine of future development. The green economy has a significant role in the structural changes in European economies. Horizontal, environmental and sectorial strategies support the transition to green economy. (original abstract)
