Sector Analysis as a Basis for Building a Strategy of a Daily Press Publisher
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
Uzupełnia je analiza pięciu sił Portera w sektorze dzienników ogólnopolskich i poszczególnych poziomów budowania strategii firmy medialnej. Strategie zwiększające rentowność na rynku czytelniczym polegają na unikaniu bezpośredniej konkurencji z najgroźniejszymi rywalami, rozwoju strategii produktowych i dystrybucyjnych. Na rynku reklamowym wydawcy rozwijają natomiast strategie relacyjne. (abstrakt oryginalny)
This paper describes the issue of applying the sector analysis, which is the basic element of constructing the strategy of Polish daily press publishers. The starting point is the creation of a media company strategy, as defined within the frameworks of different strategy models, which guarantee best the attainment of the desired marketing objectives. The basis for the sector analysis is a precise determination of the market, on which the media company functions. Despite increasing readership of the printed press and advertisers' greater interest in the electronic media, the publishers of daily newspapers can use the strategies increasing their profitability. The position of particular media titles on the market was presented by means of strategic group maps, created in two-dimension systems, representing the strategic benefit areas. It is complemented by the analysis of Porter's five forces in the sector of Polish dailies and particular levels of creating a media company's strategy. The strategies which increase profitability on the readership market consist in avoiding direct competition with the most dangerous rivals, developing the product and distribution strategies. On the advertising market, however, the publishers develop relational strategies. (original abstract)
