Celem opracowania jest analiza sytuacji na rynku pracy Unii Europejskiej w latach 2000-2009, dokonanie jego diagnozy oraz wskazanie głównych zmian. Dla realizacji założonego celu wykorzystana została metoda analityczno-opisowa. Zakres przedmiotowy obejmuje rynek pracy Unii Europejskiej (27) oraz jej krajów członkowskich. (fragment tekstu)

An analysis of the labour market development of the European Union within the years 2000-2009 allows to indicate periods in which changes took places alternately: negative period (2000-2003), positive one (2004-2007/2008) and very negative one (2008-2009). The analysis also gives a background to indicate basic features of the EU's labour market in the first decade of the 21st century: high level of unemployment; differentiated functioning of labour markets in individual member states; high and permanent differentiation within EU's regions; lower position of women and rapid growth of youth unemployment. These characteristics, at the same time, should determine directions into which employment policies should head both at the level of the European Union and member states. (original abstract)
