Abstrakty

W artykule omówiono perspektywy i wyzwania jakie wiążą się z ubieganiem się Turcji o członkostwo w Unii Europejskiej. Droga Turcji do UE została zablokowana w 1997 roku. Jednak decyzja podjęta na szczycie w Helsinkach w 1999 roku, kiedy to przyznano Turcji status oficjalnego kandydata na członka Unii Europejskiej, umożliwiła wiele pozytywnych reform w tym kraju i pozytywnie wpłynęła na proces demokratyzacji. Negocjacje akcesyjne rozpoczęły się 3 października 2005 roku.
