This paper reports on the selected results obtained by an application of the dynamic multidimensional model to project marital composition of Poland's population. This study was carried out at the Institute of Statistics and Demography under the international comparative project "Social Security, Family and Household in Ageing Societies" coordinated by the IIASA and the NIDI. The methodological approach developed at the NIDI by Keilman and van Imhoff could be applied to study population and households dynamics. Their model named LIPRO was proposed to this study. Unfortunately, data necessary to run the household model are not directly available in Poland. Therefore, the marital status version of the LIPBO model has been applied with the extension to urban-rural areas. The course of the demographic processes in Poland differs significantly for urban and rural subpopulations. It seemed to be reasonable to analyse changes in age and marital status structure for urban and rural subpopulations separately. The LIPRO IBM PC software, developed by E. van Imhoff, made possible to project Poland's population by marital status according to the assumed disaggregation level.(fragment of text)
