Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie przesłanek tworzenia się społeczeństwa informacyjnego oraz analiza aktualnego stanu wykorzystania technologii informacyjnych w polskim społeczeństwie. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań umożliwiły autorowi identyfikację najistotniejszych problemów wynikających z wykorzystania nowoczesnych technologii oraz wskazanie kierunków rozwoju społeczeństwa informacyjnego w Polsce w warunkach budowy gospodarki wiedzy i dążenia do pełnego wdrożenia zasad rozwoju zrównoważonego(fragment tekstu)

The structure of the civilization of the knowledge and the information society in highly developed countries became the necessity at present due to growing ecological barriers of the social-economic development, disadvantageous demographic changes and dynamically progressing process of the globalization. The author indicates the problems associated with the structure of the information society in Poland. There are the problems deserving the particular attention: the insufficient development of the IT infrastructure including the broadband Internet and low awareness within the scope of the safety of the networking. These issues, together with the growth of an interest in the network services, can bring more and more serious consequences in the form of loss of private data or financial losses.(author's abstract)
