The technological revolution has resulted in spectacular changes in the functioning of society and this has directly influenced economic growth and development. When Henry Ford began mass production of cars, and so forced out carriages and horse-drawn trams, social life changed. Roads, parking lots and garages were built and people started to travel faster and more frequently. The car revolutionised the world. The present technological revolution is global and influences the way people conduct economic activity. It also creates new forms of payment. One can already talk, then, in terms of the growing role of the e-economy, e-business, e-finance, e-banking and e-payments. Forms of payment are subject to continuous change. In the beginning these were goods, metals, and paper money. Now, there are electronic payment forms including magnetic strip cards, smart cards, virtual cards, electronic money and personal identification numbers. (fragment of text)
