Abstrakty

Szereg najistotniejszych problemów ludzi starych i osób niepełnosprawnych wymaga rozwiązań instytucjonalnych w celu zaspokojenia podstawowych potrzeb tych zbiorowości. Część problemów ludzi starych w krajach wysoko rozwiniętych ma charakter uniwersalny, a stosowane rozwiązania praktyczne mogą w niektórych przypadkach być użyteczne w krajach o niższym poziomie rozwoju ekonomicznego. Wszelkie przykłady zaspokajania potrzeb społecznych prezentowanych zbiorowości stanowią ważny przyczynek dla projektowania efektywnych rozwiązań pomocy społecznej. Dla opieki społecznej nad ludźmi starszymi problemem staje się pięć najczęściej występujących w krajach wysoko rozwiniętych schorzeń charakterystycznych w podeszłym wieku: demencja, przewlekłe schorzenia układu moczowego, upośledzenie słuchu, osteoporoza /ścieńczenie, kruchość, łamliwość kości/ oraz choroby artretyczne. Przy rosnącej liczbie osób starszych występowanie tych chorób jest podstawowym powodem podejmowanych działań opiekuńczych, bowiem schorzenia te wymagają obsługi lub pomocy w samoobsłudze.

In the paper there have been presented most essential problems of the aged and disabled in highly developed countries, mainly in the U.S.A., demanding institutional solutions in order to satisfy basic needs of these universes. Part of the problems of the aged in highly developed countries is universal by nature, and the applied practical solutions may be - in some cases - useful in countries of lower level of economic development. The collected examples of satisfying social needs contribute to projecting effective solutions for social care. (original abstract)
