Cooperative in the Rural Community and the Role of the Family in his Administration

The study of family business focuses on the role of the family within organizations considering prospects as ownership, control, continuity, management and family influence, which means that by using one approach or another can lead to different results. The aim of the study was to analyze the socioeconomic profile of the members of the fishing cooperative Barra La Tonina in the rural community Las Aguamitas and the role of the family in his administration. Data was collected with the application of questionnaires to 100 members of the cooperative. The findings indicate that the cooperative operates in a rural community that develops economic activities using natural resources of the sea and its members are fishermen from 30 to 40 years (47%), with primary education (51%), with children (92%) and parents (59%) that are and were members of the cooperative, with the development of equipment for their activity (72%), who occupied leading positions both the current partner (28%) and parents (38%) for two years without prior training. From the above it is concluded that cooperative members have family ties, transferred knowledge of fishing for generations, is owned by its members to leadership positions without prior training and as well as parents and sons perform this function to be promoted by the assembly that leads the organization.
