Entrepreneurship is a very controversial field of research. In this context, our article wants to clarify the relationship between traditional entrepreneur, social entrepreneur and innovation. The entrepreneur is defined as an actor that disrupts the balance of the business environment and generates economic growth, because innovation represents the critical dimension of the change that creates temporary monopolies allowing abnormal profits which is a source of competition. The impact of the technologic progress on innovativeness of entrepreneur business is reflected on reasons why a person becomes an entrepreneur, making the distinctions between the entrepreneurs who launched the business because they had no alternative job, and the entrepreneurs who are attracted to this domain emergence of social entrepreneurship is motivated by the necessity to practice new business models which is moulded on basic human needs. Therefore, the social entrepreneur is an innovator with personal and social values and social entrepreneurship is an efficient mechanism to alleviate poverty. (original abstract)
